Quality Assurance Technician Food (Technologist)
Direct Hire in Taylor, MI
$16-$18/hr depending on food and manufacturing experience
Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Job Duties:
• Performing daily pre-operation checks, including proper cleaning and reporting any maintenance concerns.
• Enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, safety policies, HACCP, and all other food safety programs.
• Supervising the HACCP Team.
• Initiating, monitoring, and approving Deviation and Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) reports for produce safety.
• Taking the temperature of all coolers and freezers and calibrating all thermometers on a regular basis.
• Placing product on hold if it fails to meet specifications.
• Reviewing production paperwork to ensure it has been properly completed.
• Completing any necessary paperwork.
• Attending Quality Assurance meetings as needed.
• Performing product label and raw material label audits.
• Performing mock recalls on ingredients, packaging, and finished product.
• Following and enforcing all state, federal, and FDA guidelines.
• Discussing inspection results with those responsible for products and recommending necessary corrective actions.
• Performing quality checks as the product is produced to ensure that each product meets specifications.
• Conducting physical audits of the facility(s).
• Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Warehousing Managers, Supervisors, and Associates.
• Serving as the gatekeeper of Prerequisite and Operational Programs.
• Conducting and facilitating HACCP and Product Safety Training for all associates.
• Issuing retraining forms as needed.
• Assisting and performing monthly safety checks.
Job Requirements:
• Have excellent organization skills.
• Have basic knowledge and understanding of quality and safety standards.
• Have basic math skills and practical communication skills.
• Have basic computer skills (i.e., Excel, Word, and In-house systems).
• Have coursework or practical experience in food science, quality management, or other sciences.
• Have a demonstrated ability to solve routine problems.
• Have basic knowledge of ISO-type Quality System and HACCP.
• Have knowledge and maintenance of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
• Have knowledge of storage and temperature requirements of different ingredients.
• Have HACCP and FSPCA certifications.
• Have experience with Statistics and Quality Auditing (preferred).
