About QA Supervisor - 2nd Shift

  Job Summary

  As the QA Supervisor on 2nd Shift, you will assist in the management of quality control activities for all phases of production, personnel and laboratory operations. You will schedule and assign workloads; and maintains close rapport with production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting quality. You will direct product quality surveillance of manufacturing areas with possible HACCP monitoring, conduct periodic facility inspections and may perform daily bacteriological environmental inspections in critical plant areas; supervise special inspections for incoming materials, end-of-run products, etc. You will coordinate with production in the monitoring of packaging lines for effective control of weights, metal detection, codes and product/package integrity. 3 years related experience - preferably in a food manufacturing facility.

  In addition, you will provide supervision, technical assistance and scheduling quality assurance technicians and associates. You will be involved in all aspects of quality and safety including but not limited to audits, HACCP program evaluation, GMP training, sanitation evaluation, pest control, purchasing supplies, working with operations personnel on quality and safety issues, inspecting returned and incoming products, customer complaints, implementing policies and procedures and evaluating new equipment installation or repair.

  Position Responsibilities

  You will coordinate quality assurance activities (e.g., audits, training, purchasing, etc.)

  You will provide technical assistance and training to QA personnel.

  You will monitor and verify the HACCP plan’s CCPs adhering to policy and procedure.

  You will conduct GMP and sanitation audits of operations and warehouse areas.

  You will work with operations personnel on quality and safety issues.

  You will verify operations control systems are functional and followed.

  You will place product on hold, release or disposition as necessary while adhering to policy and procedures.

  You will evaluate damaged products.

  You will coordinate resolution of customer complaints as necessary.

  You will ensure SPC Management practices are followed.

  You will complete analytical reviews of product.

  You will perform various other duties as required.

  Position Qualifications

  The successful candidate will have a BS Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or other related degree required. Education may be substituted for years of experience.

  You have 3 years related experience required preferably in the food industry.

  You possess a complete understanding of Food Safety Guidelines/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe practices and procedures.

  You possess a complete understanding of HACCP Plans.

  You possess an understanding of government regulations (FDA, USDA).

  You are familiar with Fundamentals of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

  You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  You are able to read, write and speak fluent English.

  You have experience in a large organization/corporate experience.

  You have the ability to prioritize and manage tasks.

  You are a proficient computer user.

  You are able to read measurements.

  Physical Requirements

  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
