8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.
Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Purchasing Coordinator helps maintain our supply inventory levels by ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet production demands. The Purchasing Coordinator will be responsible for learning company purchasing policies, procedures, and maintaining supply inventory levels required for effective company operation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Purchases requested materials and services utilizing JD Edwards MRP reports. Develop and execute weekly orders according to supply and contracted volumes. Ensure timely delivery of all materials to meet production demands. Ensures that departments are satisfied regarding the quality, delivery, guarantee, specifications, and cost commitments by vendors, and process returns as needed. (Examples of materials and services include: corrugated boxes, misc. packaging and ingredients, transportation and shipping of goods and services) Utilizes internal and external inventory item lists, price lists and retains historical records of transactions accomplished as a part of purchasing services. Partner with company leadership to proactively identify and execute on continuous improvement opportunities in the areas of: safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and sanitation. Manage ingredient shelf life & disposal (monthly). Manage weekly pallet orders and transfers. Manage COA’s. Manage recycling process and vendor relationship. Engage in clear and prompt communication with other departments to identify hurdles and assist in finding solutions. Support Purchasing Operations: Process Purchase Orders, proactively track logistics. exceptions, and support in developing and maintaining on-time and in-full delivery metrics. Coordinate logistics for the transportation of goods. Other duties, as assigned
Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
Advanced education in Business, Inventory or related field 2-years work experience in purchasing, inventory control, or related field Ability to work independently and with others in a team environment JD Edwards software programs preferred Demonstrated organizational skills & the ability to work on multiple high priority projects Effective written, verbal, & interpersonal communication and negotiation skills Ability to strongly multi-task, organize, and prioritize High level of accuracy and attention to detail
