PUBLIC UTILITY WORKER I

　　SALARY:        Minimum:        $41,113 per year            Maximum:         $52,080 per year

　　   Position will typically hire at minimum pay and follow a step progression to maximum

　　DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK:

　　            Employees in this classification operate trucks, tractors and other equipment of comparable complexity in addition to performing manual laboring tasks. Work is usually performed under the general supervision of a foreman or other employee of higher grade; however, constant supervision is not necessary for routine and repetitive tasks which can be completed without difficulty once they are learned.

　　            Employee interacts in a consistently pleasant and helpful manner to fellow employees, visitors, and citizens of the City of Dearborn and demonstrates the highest standards of internal and external customer service.

　　Operates a variety of vehicles to transport equipment and materials.Operates equipment, hand tools, and power tools in performing various labor tasks in an assigned area.Assists staff in performing sewer, water main, and related repairs.Cleans and maintains vehicles, tools, and related equipment.Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

　　EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

　　High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); related experience preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

　　LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

　　Valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License Class A with Air Brake EndorsementApplicants hired without a Michigan CDL A License will be hired as a Laborer, and must receive their Michigan CDL A License within 6 months from date of hire to remain employed.
