JOB REQUIREMENTS: Duties As part of the Geriatric Mental HealthConsultation Program within the V9 CRH, the incumbent conducts mentalhealth assessments, treatment plans, and psychotherapy to individuals,families, couples and groups in order to treat a variety of mentalhealth diagnoses and disorders. Incumbents work closely with PrimaryCare, Mental Health and Specialty Care services throughout the VISN andwithin the Health Care Systems. Incumbent provides consultationservices, short term interventions, and crisis intervention as neededfor Veterans within Behavioral Health. Clinical Functions: The incumbentmust use a high level of skill in assessing and treating the complicatedpsychosocial problems of Veterans (Geriatric) and their Caregivers.Incumbent completes thorough psychosocial assessments when the Veteranis referred and will complete a thorough treatment plan when a Veteranengages in mental health services. Incumbent will provide psychotherapywith individuals, couples, and families, crisis intervention, supportivecounseling, and referral for resources and benefits. Maintains highlevel of skill and expertise to establish and maintain effectivetherapeutic relationships with Veterans and/or their families.Independently works with Veterans and their families who areexperiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric,cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems.Participates as an integral member of the Clinical Resource HubVISN-wide Geriatric Mental Health Consultation Program treatment team.Actively participate through collaboration with Veterans and family, aswell as interdisciplinary treatment team members, including but notlimited to Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, SocialWorkers, RNs, Peer Support Specialists and Administrative Support staff,in the development and implementation of a treatment plan.
