Summary About the Position: This position is located at US ARMY 1ST SPECIAL FORCES COMMAND SECRETARY GENERAL STAFF(SGS) COMMAND SECTION FORT LIBERTY, NC Responsibilities Serves as a Protocol Specialist assigned to the 1st Special Forces Command (1st SFC) Receives notification of pending visits by dignitaries, to include foreign and domestic political and military leaders, scholars and other professionals with defense interests. Evaluates, plans and coordinates arrangements for visits of military and civilian dignitaries. Plans and coordinates the arrangements for all social functions associated with conferences and major events. Controls Official Representation Funds (ORF) accounts and maintains an inventory record for memorabilia and souvenir items. Coordinates and provides protocol assistance for official presentation and events including honors, awards, promotions, retirements and assumption of Command responsibility ceremonies. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience in experience in 1) Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with groups interested in or affected by agency protocol policies and procedures; 2) Applying knowledge of the organization and key personnel to plan, analyze, and coordinate protocol activities; 3) Applying knowledge of protocol peculiarities for foreign visitors to locate sources of accurate, current information for each area of the world; 4) Advising and instructing escort and support personnel on protocol matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Planning and Evaluating Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
