  Protection Engineer - Senior Level

  POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Power System Protection/Analytical Engineer to join our SCADA and Analytical Services (SAS) team. This position is posted in multiple POWER office locations with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location (please note in the application questions where you prefer to be located). 

  Roles and Responsibilities

  The successful applicant will be responsible for successful completion of assigned projects and for maintaining and improving client relationships as well as developing and growing new technical service areas.  Completion of these functions requires technical competence in primary production roles as well as leadership competence in working with clients and mentoring and supervising team members assigned to projects. Assigned projects will include electrical studies for utility and industrial/commercial clients. Systems to be analyzed will include conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, and transmission and distribution systems. Technical disciplines include the following:

  Protective Relaying: short circuit and symmetrical component analysis, protection system coordination, wide area coordination analysis, protection scheme and criteria development, relay settings, integration with SCADA systems, NERC compliance, arc flash analysis, protection hardware in the loop testing, event analysis, and IEC61850-based protection schemes.

  Applicable software: AcSELerator Quickset (SEL-5030), GE Enervista, ASPEN Oneliner, CAPE, SKM-PTW, ETAP, RSCAD/RTDS, MathCAD, Helinks, AcSELerator Architect, PCM 600, Digsi

  The successful applicant must also demonstrate aptitude in the following:

  Required Education/Experience

  Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BSEE)

  Ten (10) + years of industry experience

  PE or equivalent

  Desired Education/Experience

  Preference is given to applicants with any of the following:

  Power Systems focused MSEE

  A proven history of completing similar projects in a consulting environment

  Experience in mentoring others and in providing technical and commercial leadership in customer focused engineering projects

  Demonstrated experience developing, testing, and maintaining IEC 61850 based protection and control schemes

  Experience with medium voltage industrial system protection

  Active involvement in industry organizations such as IEEE or Cigre

  Experience with the documentation, configuration, and testing of SCADA and automation systems

  Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $90k - $160k per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
