We call it love + medicine!Job Description: TheProsthetist Orthotist is a Board Certified clinician who independentlypractices and provides prosthetic and orthotic care for a diversespectrum of patients with a broad range of disabilities. Orthotic caremay include, but is not limited to, patient evaluation, orthosis design,fabrication, fitting, and modification to treat a neuro-musculoskeletaldisorder, or acquired condition. This includes the provision of partialfoot prostheses for trans-metatarsal and more distal amputations.Prosthetic care may include, but is not limited to, patient evaluation,prosthesis design, fabrication, fitting, and modification to treat limbloss for purposes of restoring physiological function and/or cosmesis.Major Responsibilities: 1. Independently provides prosthetic andorthotic care for a full caseload of patients. Consults with and advisesreferring providers regarding patients\' orthotic and prosthetic needs.2. Examines affected area for factors affecting the fitting andplacement of orthopedic appliances. Fits and adjusts appliances anddevices to give patients maximum possible function. Makes cast of limbor deformity to determine the specifications of appliances and devicesto be made. Determines materials from which appliance/device may befabricated. 3. Bills Medicare and other third party payers for theservices he/she provides. Acquires and maintains knowledge of currentbilling and coding practices in the field. 4. Keeps abreast ofcompliance and regulatory issues in the field and complies with thesame. 5. Markets him/herself and the department to both internal andexternal referral sources to expand referral base. 6.
