The Project Engineer will support project teams and the firm's key regional clients in the planning, design and construction of complex and innovative combined sewer, wastewater conveyance, and wastewater treatment projects. Projects may also include water distribution and storage, reclaimed water, and stormwater management systems. As part of subsequent training, professional development and career progression, the Project Engineer will have opportunities for increasing responsibility including project management, and the successful candidate will contribute to the firm's business development efforts.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Consulting and engineering design of complex assignments, including hydraulic calculations, development of utility plans, design of water and wastewater treatment systems, develop technical specifications and drawings, infrastructure condition assessment and rehabilitation, and cost estimating.Review of engineering designs, bid packages, RFPs, and Statements of Work prepared by others, as part of a program management role.Participate in assignments as a member of a team, sometimes in a lead role in particular areas of expertise, including peer mentorship of design and consulting staff.Assist the Project Manager with project management responsibilities.Assist with development of qualification packages and proposals.Presentation of project deliverables to clients.QUALIFICATIONS* Education: B.S. degree in Civil or Environmental is required. M.S. degree preferred.* Experience: 5-8 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering consulting performing studies, design and construction services for municipal clients.* Certifications, Licenses: Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is required.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES* Experience in the preparation of contract documents, including drawings and specifications, for complex water and wastewater projects.* Experience in the study and design of water and wastewater conveyance systems including potable water conveyance, wastewater conveyance, pump stations and preparation of hydraulic design calculations.* Experience in site design associated with urban infrastructure projects.* Experience working on and coordinating with an interdisciplinary team with other engineers, including structural, geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and control, architecture, etc.* Strong communication and technical writing skills.* Experience working in fast-paced team environments.
