About the Public Works Engineering Division:The mission of the Engineering Division is to evaluate, and implementimprovements, for the public infrastructure systems of the City to maintainacceptable levels of service and accommodate future growth. The EngineeringDivision includes a team of engineers and industry professionals that helpprovide technical support and project management for all City Departments. TheWater Services Division is committed to providing customers with the highestquality and most reliable drinking water, at the lowest cost possible. Thisis achieved by diverting and storing raw water supplies from the Grand Mesa,processing that water at our treatment plant, distributing treated water,and assuring water quality during each step of the process.

What You'll Do:Perform engineering design tasks for assigned projects; coordinate start upmeetings; perform calculations and modeling; prepare final layouts ofinfrastructure improvements; coordinate departments and jurisdictionsinvolved in projects; evaluate budgetary constraints.Participate in the selection of private contractors and consultant engineersfor various projects; determine scope of work; participate in thepreparation of Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications;advertise for bids; participate in the review of proposals and bids;participate in award of contract.Develop and present construction plans, specifications, contractdocuments, bid documents and cost estimates for proposed projects.Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives,policies, procedures and priorities for assigned programs; recommendimprovements and modifications.Coordinate reviews by other City departments and outside agencies; obtainpermits and authorizations from appropriate jurisdictional agencies; verifycompliance with City standards and practices; approve drawings forconstruction
What We're Looking For:
Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineeringexperience.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field.Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.Possession of, or ability to obtain, registration as a ProfessionalEngineer in the State of Colorado within 1 year of employment.
