Description
The City of Irvine seeks an action-oriented and innovative professional with strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills to serve as the Project Development Administrator overseeing the Neighborhood Traffic Division of the Public Works and Transportation Department. The incumbent will work directly with various stakeholders on complex transportation-related tasks and provide project leadership and technical guidance to engineers, analysts, consultants, work groups, and/or other staff while maintaining high service delivery and exceptional customer service. This individual should possess strong knowledge and understanding of traffic engineering principles and familiarity with associated industry practices and standards.
Your Impact
Prepare written memos, reports, and presentations for the City Council and City commissions.
Direct data collection and analysis for speed surveys, average daily traffic (ADT) volumes, signal warrant studies, stop sign warrants, safety assessments, and other transportation-related studies.
Oversee and support complex transportation capital improvement projects, including practical knowledge in the preparation and review of roadway signing and striping plans, and ensure compliance with City policies and federal, state, and local standards.
Prepare and manage the Neighborhood Traffic budget and monitor expenditures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or related field
Six (6) years of transportation engineering and/or transportation planning experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Best Fit
Four years of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
Registration as a Civil Engineer and/or Traffic Engineer in California is highly desired.
Proven track record of situational awareness, good use of judgment, and demonstration of exceptional customer service.
Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, laws, and standards related to traffic and transportation engineering.

Together, these divisions provide essential services designed to meet City Strategic Business Plan goals.
