Program Specialist - Community Engagement and Events
POSITION DESCRIPTION:The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Provide direct management of the State Street Farmers MarketAssist with set-up/teardown and operation of music series.Assist staff with research, planning and execution of community events.Work with local business and community groups to plan and execute community events.Pay invoices in a timely period for services rendered.Develop and obtain proper approvals for brochures, flyers and web content to advertise programs.Maintain master event calendar.Schedule additional services required such as Port-a-Jons, sound crews, stages, vendors, etc.Make sure the equipment functions properly and is maintained properly.Assist with street closures and other task associated with community events.Performs other related duties as required.SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's Degree preferred, supplemented by one (1) to three (3) years of experience in community based programming or a related field.Other related certifications may be required.Ability to plan, coordinate, direct, and motivate the work of professional and administrative staff.Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computers, Microsoft Office programs, and other basic software.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City residents, private sector executives and business representatives, community participants, performers and the general public.Excellent work history and attendance record.
