The Program Manager oversees programs under his or her purview and leads activities that provide efficient and streamlined workflow in the Department of Surgery’s Clerkship Program. Within the assigned scope, the Program Manager performs project and analytical work of complex nature and is responsible for planning, monitoring, and guiding the execution of transformative programs aligned with strategic initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree is required from a regionally accredited college or university.
1-2 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in providing high level administrative support, oversight, and managing a busy office environment.
Experience in supervising others.
Experience in higher education, undergraduate medical education or graduate medical education, or hospital administration.
Strong technology abilities and high-level experience with web-based data systems such as One45, Canvas, ExamSoft, and Video-conferencing platforms (i.e. Zoom, GoToMeeting, etc.).
Knowledge of LCME and Specialty Program Requirements.
Knowledge of Undergraduate Medical Education, OSCE and related requirements.
Knowledge or ability to quickly obtain knowledge regarding institutional and hospital guidelines as it relates to undergraduate medical education.

Description of Job Duty
Job Duties:
The Program Manager, Clerkship coordinates clerkship orientation, arranges placement/rotations and manages clerkship schedules (i.e. lectures, night call, etc.) for students in ambulatory, inpatient, emergency room, and/or sub-specialty settings.
Maintains a rotation-related file on each student, i.e. test/quiz exam grades, mini-board exam grades, evaluations, and attendance for determination and computation of final grades; maintains all clinical performance and small group learning evaluations from each site.
Collaborates with Clerkship Director to ensure teaching materials, equipment, space, etc. are provided.
Makes periodic visits to various clerkship sites, surveying sites and obtaining information from students and faculty regarding supplies and education-related needs; networks with site personnel to achieve amendable relationships.
Serves as the primary contact for medical students and other learners.
Performs basic budgetary functions, completing/tracking various expense requests forms, and monitoring the status of the budget; maintains records and files of budget expenditure information, supplies, student data, office activities.
Works collaboratively with residency and surgical education program managers, program director, associate program director and surgery faculty.

Possess basic office skills including use of word processing, spreadsheet, and similar skills.

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
