Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The Michigan State University Superfund Research Center Data Management and Analysis Core is actively seeking motivated part-time candidate(s) to play a pivotal role in data curation, analysis, and the integration of machine learning techniques for deriving fresh insights from publicly available toxicology datasets. In this role, you will contribute to the development of ToxDataCommons (www.toxdatacommons.com), a centralized platform for environmental toxicology research data. Your responsibilities will involve collaborating with bench scientists to facilitate the collection and deposition of research-related (meta)data.
Furthermore, you will be instrumental in crafting well-documented analysis templates to showcase the utility of the data commons, thereby fostering the reuse of research data. You will also explore the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to uncover novel knowledge within this domain.
As the ideal candidate, you should possess strong organizational skills and proficiency in utilizing the bash command line, Git version control system, and R and/or Python notebooks. Prior experience with cloud computing and containerization would be advantageous. Effective communication skills are paramount, as you will closely collaborate with graduate students, postdoctoral research associates, and faculty to facilitate and enhance research endeavors.

Desired Qualifications
At least a Bachelor’s degree in a computer science, data science, or related field is required.
The candidate must be well organized and comfortable using the bash command line and Git version control system with experience in R and/or Python. Experience with cloud computing, containerization, and AWS would be beneficial. Strong communication skills are also essential as the candidate(s) will work closely with graduate students, postdoctoral research associates, and faculty to support research activities.
