The Planner / Buyer is accountable for effectively managing all planning activities within an assigned value stream at the Mebane, NC facility. Planning activities include, but are not limited to, the production planning and the purchasing of materials needed to support production in a specified area.

Job Responsibilities:
Set the example of a Safety First attitude throughout the Armacell organization.
Support Inventory Control through daily inventory analysis; identify and resolve inventory discrepancies and issues related to purchased materials.
Support SAP data integrity and the development of system improvements related to production planning and inventory accuracy.
Assist with cycle counting analysis to maintain inventory integrity physically and within the SAP planning and MRP system.
Collaborate with Production Teams to verify inventory consumption and assist with inventory discrepancies.
Prepare master production schedules for assigned operations and provide direction related to the detailed scheduling of an assigned area.
Plan finished goods (FG) and goods in process (GIP) to optimize utilization of production equipment, manpower, and labor hours to provide high levels of customer service for assigned products.
Utilize the SAP MRP system to monitor and manage safety stock levels for assigned FG, GIP, and purchased products.
Provide required production hours based on production plan requirements and create deviations to the plan as needed.
Responsible for all scheduling and materials procurement, including sub-contracted and / or inter-company transfers to support a specific value stream.
Develop, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive production planning and purchasing performance improvements. Examples include, but are not limited to, purchase order (PO) quality, purchased inventory value, purchased material days on hand (DOH) inventory, purchased material stock outs, schedule attainment, and FG on-time in full (OTIF).
Participate, and occasionally lead continuous improvement events and projects.
Ensure compliance with all laws and local, state, and Federal regulatory agencies.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelors degree in supply chain, operations, logistics, or business is preferred, but will consider demonstrated experience in lieu of a specific degree.
5 years of production planning experience is required.
2 years of purchasing experience with a focus on vendor management is required.
2 years of experience within a World Class Manufacturing or Lean Manufacturing work environment required; Lean Practitioner and / or Six Sigma Green Belt certifications are preferred.
Change management and continuous improvement mentality is required.
