MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
0 Product Realisationa) Operates very complex machinery in the manufacturing and joining of plastic handrails and
other parts. Maintains equipment as per the preventive maintenance program.
Disassembles and reassembles dies and extruders for style changes. Splices handrails to
tolerances using hand tools.
b) Operates moderately complex machinery in the manufacturing of rubber handrails and other
parts. Hand assembles handrails and splices. Reworks any deficiencies through skilled use
of knives and other hand tools. Disassembles and reassembles moulding equipment for style
changes.
c) Sets up and operates various material preparation machines to slit, cut, extrude, join or pre-
assemble rubber or rubberized materials. Disassembles and reassembles dies and other
equipment for style and size changes.
d) Sets up and operates bending Machine and router to prepare brush holders and other parts.
e) Maintains inventory accuracy by labelling and accounting for material discrepancies.
f) Maintains a clean and organised workplace to ensure processes run efficiently and product is
defect free.
g) Works on special projects in the manufacturing areas as required.
h) Packages all finished parts to approved packaging methods and standards.
2.0 Quality, Health, Safety and Environment
a) Maintains a safe and healthy environment by following EHC Health & Safety policies and
procedures and complying with current Health & Safety legislation.
b) Follows EHC’s Environmental policies and procedures to reduce impacts to the environment.
c) Maintains quality service by following EHC standards and ISO procedures
0 Inspection & Testinga) Using analog and digital gauges measures product to determine conformance.
b) Visually inspects products and compares to established standards to determine conformance.
c) Puts products that are suspected of being non-conforming on hold.
d) Maintains SPC graphs and makes process adjustments based on negative trends.
0 Reports & Administration & Other Related Dutiesa) Maintains all quality records in order to be in compliance with established standards with the
Quality Procedures Manual.
b) Completes final inspection reports, inventory accuracy reports and productivity reports.
c) Prepares Certificate of Quality as required.
5.0 Training
a) May be called upon to train other employees when requested by the Production Supervisor.
6.0 Team Effort
a) Participates with other team members in supporting team efforts and accomplishing related
team results.
b) Works with the team to make ongoing improvements to the process and product
KEY ATTRIBUTES
Completion of high school education
Has 3 years experience in production processes using complicated machinery would be
considered an asset.
A high degree of hand eye coordination is required. Ability to consistently work with in
excess of 35 kg and the ability to stand for longer periods of time.
Proven ability in inspection and testing in an ISO 9000 accredited manufacturing company.
Good working knowledge of Quality Concepts, Basic SPC, blueprint reading, and inspection.
Has working computer knowledge of ERP software, Microsoft Word & e-mail.
