SCOPE & BASIC FUNCTION :
The Production Coordinator assists and supports the Manufacturing Supervisor(s) on the safety, quality, and performance/productivity of all production employees. This position serves as a liaison between production employees and the Manufacturing Supervisors and will be responsible for production schedule adherence to completion in a timely manner and within all quality procedures and for participation in performance management processes. This position must possess the ability to accomplish the essential functions and responsibilities without providing hands-on assistance with equipment and manufacturing processes. The production coordinator also serves as a backup in the absence of Supervisors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assist production supervisors by working with machine operators and maintenance employees to identify and prioritize safety, throughput, quality, and maintenance needs that impact overall equipment effectiveness and plant performance.
Coordinate and monitor break coverage, run through break activities, recommend re/cross-training to supervisors, and maintain quality standards.
Assist the Production Supervisors to plan, and review the production activities of the facility, and to optimize performance through the resources available, including coordination of changeovers, material changes, and redeploying labor when machines are down.
Communicates machines in need of repairs to the Maintenance department and Manufacturing Supervisors and submits appropriate work orders as necessary.
Utilize line logbooks, and recommend updates to SOPs, CILs, and documentation with Document Specialist and(or) Technician Trainer as needed.
Maintains accurate production counts, and reportable downtime and makes recommendations to Manufacturing Supervisors for process improvements.
The production lead supports Manufacturing Supervisors with tracking KPIs including but not limited to Safety, Quality, Throughput, Attendance, Teamwork, On-time delivery, Innovation, Continuous Improvement, and Costs.
Communicates safety meetings to employees and assists with resolution of safety issues.
Ensure production schedule adherence and conduct documented line checks to ensure products on the floor are in line with the production schedule and Bill of Materials (BOM).
Maintain documentation and assist in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and other documentation as requested.
General Responsibilities
Understand and follow all Woodstream and customer policies, safety rules, SOPs, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and other regulatory requirements (as applicable), including the Union Agreement.
Maintain positive and professional working relationships with subordinates, superiors, and peers from all departments and across the organization including customers.
Assist in all other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor and/or management.
Keep all work areas neat, clean, and orderly in compliance with cGMP standards.
Understand the overall workflow for each area of responsibility.
Encourage, support, and champion production requirements and cGMP.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER SKILLS :
High School degree required. Associate degree or higher, or equivalent experience may be considered.
Previous leadership experience preferred.
Math skills, including algebra, unit conversion, rounding, percentages, and statistics.
Computer skills, including basic typing and data entry, navigation, and use of email/Outlook, and Excel spreadsheets. Preferred experience with AS400, SAP, and(or) willingness to learn.
