About Production Assistant

  Description Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is one of the most innovative public media organizations in the country. Every day, TPT uses the power of media to advance the arts, spur learning, help young people succeed and help adults age vitally. TPT presents extraordinary PBS programming and also produces award-winning content for the national PBS system. TPT is seeking Production Assistant to join the history team behind award-winning Minnesota Experience content including Lost Twin Cities and Jim Crow of the North. The Production Assistant role assists with multimedia projects, archival and other research, production, and post-production work with a focus on public history content. MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: * Ensures media production work and communication is of the highest quality and delivered in a timely manner that meets audience, tpt, and pbs expectations * Provide research and development support for content focused on diverse, regional public history. * Assists associate producers and producers in research, pre-production, production, and distribution of multimedia projects * Supports the sourcing of "b-roll" video, subject matter experts, and any additional story-telling content as needed by projects * Provide archival research including photo and moving image archives, personal collections, library archives and others as needed * Coordinates with media production team on media asset management, media ingest, tracking, post-production and multi-media deliverables * Creates and manages flow of social media, marketing and PR assets and elements * Fact checking and quality control in post-production * Supports productions with offline editing * Helps coordinate program finishing and distribution process including closed captioning, project tracking records, information needed for captioning * Maintains open and clear communication with all the production services team and crew to ensure all production details and logistics run smoothly and efficiently. * Administers database of production records, performing data entry and maintenance of data. * Assists in the creation of social media on online content, as needed. * Acquires media from third party sources to meet various editorial, technical and legal requirements. * Collects and organizes releases. * Transcribes video interviews. * Provides on location production support for single and multi-camera field shoots during business and evening hours. * Coordinates with external advisors, subject matter experts, elders, and story subjects to support production as well as engagement and activation * Builds and maintains relationships with communities and organizations in and adjacent to the public history and humanities fields * Supports flow of content, community contacts, materials from production team to tptLearn team and curriculum development * Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: * 1 - 3 years of production experience or equivalent experience * Experience with offline editing system Adobe Premiere required * Appreciation for diverse, wide-ranging public history demonstrated through personal interests, academic, artistic or community projects and experiences * Experience with other Adobe Creative Suite tools preferred * Familiar with the variety of common file formats, such as MXF, MPEG3, MPEG4, .MOV, and others * Exceptional computer application skills including Microsoft Office and Social Media platforms. * Ability to work independently, be organized, establish priorities and manage time effectively. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills that foster positive and productive cross-functional working relationships with both internal and external partners * Exceptional attention to detail * Able to successfully and professionally operate in an unpredictable, fast-paced environment with a wide range of tasks to meet short notice and shifting deadlines * Strong creative problem-solving skills * The aptitude and willingness to learn and incorporate changing techno ogies in completion of daily functions * Knowledge of Content Management Systems a plus * Passion for public media and our mission, vision and values a must! Required Experience * Willingness to work in a hybrid work environment that does require time in the tpt studios in downtown St. Paul * Experience (student, independent, or job) in media production (please submit links with cover letter or resume) * Interest and some experience in archival, research, and other history practices * Coordination and administrative work in community that could include 'impact producing', events, community organizing Preferred Experience * Bachelor's Degree * Social media creation, management, or strategy, professional or otherwise * Writing (journalistic, scholarly, or creative) Knowledge, skills and abilities: * Interest/experience in public history, cultural studies, museums, and other humanities fields * Strong software skills: Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams, the Adobe Creative Suite. * Strong focus on audience and end user needs * Strong organizational and time management skills. Able to multitask in a fast-paced, time sensitive production environment. * Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all team members. * Commitment to advancing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) priorities within the organization.
