Responsible for maximizing cost effectiveness and reliability towards;manufacturing flow, processes and equipment. Determines sequences ofmanufacturing operations on new and existing products in accordance withprocessing requirements. Ensures that existing equipment, fixtures andprocesses meet safety and customer quality requirements, as well asbeing ergonomically sound for manufacturing. Responsible for designingfixtures, establishing Statements of Work, and leading activitiesrelated to manufacturing equipment implementation. Specifies process andfacilities requirements to achieve desired production goals and qualitystandards. Scope/Supervision and Interaction: This job may havesupervisory responsibility for other technical personnel. This positionroutinely interacts with all division functional department managers andemployees. Provides technical information regarding equipment, fixtures,processes and facilities as required. This position requires theindividual to work well with others and provides support tomanufacturing as required. Essential Functions: ? Refine and enhanceprocesses by applying continuous improvement and key Leanmanufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas ofproduction. Recommend product changes/improvements to Product Engineers.? Identify and implement solutions for issues relating to safety,quality, productivity, and cost reductions. ? Develop innovativesolutions to complex engineering and manufacturing production problemsthrough identification and implementation of advanced manufacturingprocesses including conducting process analysis, applying knowledge ofproduct design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials,conferring with suppliers, and soliciting observations from theoperators/production technicians. ? Implement zero defect qualityinitiative for application across product line and for individualprocesses. ? Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planningworkflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Coordinate inputthat may cross multiple teams or areas; make recommendations andimplement changes. ? Prepare documentation for new manufacturingprocesses and engineering procedures. Prepare reports summarizinganalyzed process information and trends. ? Assure product and processquality by testing finished product and process capabilities andestablishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing processrequirements. ? Determine root cause of failures using statisticalmethods (e.g., design of experiment, SPC) that may result in changes indesign, tolerances, or processing methods. ? Evaluate capital equipmentinvestments and prepare cost justifications. Design and prepare conceptdrawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment. Managethe overall implementations of capital equipment projects. ? Sharespecialized knowledge with others. Represent Company on specificprojects, lead and participate on project teams. Qualifications: ?Bachelor?s Degree in related Engineering field required ? 2-4 + years ofpractical experience in a manufacturing engineering role is required ?1 - 3 years of practical process knowledge of Compression or InjectionMolding manufacturing is required, knoweldge of Elastomer manufacturingprocesses is desired. ? Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, abilityto utilize automated measuring tools, and strong understanding ofautomated manufacturing equipment control plans ? Capability andwillingness to work ?hands-on? on projects without supervision. ?Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools as well as Mini Tabpreferred. ? Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, projectmanagement, FMEAs, and quality systems preferred. ? Working knowledge ofAPQP control plans and PPAP validation plans is strongly desired. ?
