DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:Process Engineer (Quality Dept.): Superior Tube Company has an exciting opportunity to join a global supplier of "mission critical" high performance alloy precision tubular products with customers from a diverse range of markets including the Defense, Aerospace, Energy and Medical markets.
Looking for a Process Engineer to work in the Quality Department to focus on solving quality problems.
This position will report to the Manager of Quality Assurance & Systems and will be focused on executing key process engineering functions to support the Quality team. This postion will work closely with our Operations team, our operators, our customers and our suppliers to meet quality, cost and delivery objectives with a focus on reducing yield loss, scrap and re* work.
Primary Responsiblities:* Commitment to safety.* Lead core quality functions such as non* conformance root cause determination, prevention and corrective actions.* This is a "hands on" position requiring majority of the work on the production floor to solve quality problems. This is not a desk jockey position.* Assist with QC source inspections.* This position will also work with our Operations, Inspection, Materials Lab and Non - Destructive Testing teams to recommend process improvements to enhance quailty, reduce cost and shorten lead times.* Must be able to make decisions based on drawing and specification interpretations.* Lead root cause/correctrive action activities and provide nonconformance trend analysis.* Identifies opportunities for, and supports execution, of capital improvement projects as these projects relate to quality and quality processes.* Leads teams to solve quality problems.* Works with production employees to develop work instructions and document processes within quality parameters.
Experience:* 3 - 7 years of Engineering experience in related field.* B.S. degree in an engineering discipline with focus on Industrial, Mechanical or Material Science Engineering.* Must possess the skills to collaborate across departmental lines and with external vendors.* Must be meticulous and possess a drive to meet or exceed internal and external customer requirements.* Must be an effective communicator in both written and oral formats. Must be able to interact with all employees at all levels and within all departments.* Experience with reviewing/interpreting drawings and specifications. Must be able to interpret drawing nomenclature.* Background working with metals a must. Experience working with the aerospace, defense or medical device industry a plus.* Must have accuracey and attention to detail.* Must be able to multi* task.* We are a 24/7 operation. Must be able to work off* hours occasionally as needed and to support off* shifts with questions.
