  The Process Engineer will be working with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers in the discovery and development of differentiated and ownable hemostats and sealants solutions to address important unmet surgical needs.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Conduct research and development work supporting process development to manufacture hemostats, sealants, adhesion prevention or other surgical products according to R&D strategic priorities.

  Play a hands-on role in conducting laboratory-based development activities, analyze, interpret analytical data to guide product and process optimization, document research activities, and be capable to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

  Collaborate in cross-functional/multidisciplinary teams, such as Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, etc. to design, develop, and implement new processes required for the manufacture of new device designs.

  Interact with external equipment vendors and academia to bring state-of-the-art technologies, techniques, processes, and equipment in-house. Plan, attend and execute trials in external equipment vendor sites.

  Execute methods needed for efficient and effective process development (design for manufacturing, test method validation, process validation, process capability, lean manufacturing, equipment selection and specification development).

  Prepare technical reports, present results, and recommendations to project teams and management.

  Incorporate manufacturability into your research to partner with manufacturing in the scale-up of R&D concepts and processes to full production scale.

  Keep abreast of current published research in the field of interest by searching the scientific and intellectual property literature and making recommendations to project teams and management. Work with patent liaison and attorneys to protect intellectual property of new inventions when feasible.

  Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies. Follow safety and GxP guidelines including maintaining up-to-date training, following SOPs, maintaining equipment, and proper documentation of laboratory notebooks and logbooks.

  Define, identify, and procure new equipment for manufacturing processes.

  Qualifications

  Education & Required Experience:

  A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science & Engineering or related field is required.

  An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) is preferred.

  A minimum of two years of experience in a relevant industrial environment as a technical contributor with a B.S. degree OR a M.S. degree OR a Ph.D. degree is required.

  Candidates with strong polymers and process development background.

  Knowledge of and experience in applying scientific principles, analytical techniques, and judgment to independently resolve technical issues and establish new methods, controls & procedures.

  Demonstrated ability to independently design, carry out experiments and interpret results.

  Strong digital literacy and knowledge of various programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point as well as commonly used graphing software and team-based collaboration tools.

  Preferred Skills & Experience:

  Polymer processing, extrusion and melt blowing process experience.

  Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE).

  Previous process/product development experience in the Medical Device industry, medical field or other highly regulated industry.

  In-depth understanding of Medical Devices regulations.

  Experience with scale up and technology transfer to commercial manufacturing

  Knowledge of polymer chemistry and physics, with demonstrated understanding of material characterization, structure-property relationships, formulation development and processing and utilization towards application development.

  Experience working with vendors, customers, and cross-functional teams.

  Other:

  This position is based in Raritan, NJ and requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.The anticipated base pay range for this position is [$66,000] to [$106,00].

  The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
