Job Summary The Process Engineer isresponsible for generating productivity increases, enhancing productquality, and reducing costs through process/layout improvements,machinery specifications, and the development of new technologies.Principal Duties and Responsibilities Functions as an internalconsultant in the areas of productivity improvement, processefficiencies, cost reduction, and facility layout Researches anddevelops new technologies to enhance efficiencies, product quality andproductivity Works with the Quality Control department to ensurecompliance with code reports Identifies and implements changes to theprocess to enhance the overall appearance of finish product Developsoperating profiles that maximize output, product quality, and minimizescrap and ensure their use throughout the plant Trains operators on howto properly identify and correct problems in production Troubleshootsproduction-related problems and assists in bringing the product backinto specification Maintains up-to-date knowledge of related machineryand equipment for possible operation applications and assists inmachinery and equipment specification Works with vendors on machineryspecifications to enhance productivity Manages all aspects of thedevelopment and implementation of production projects Prepares and/orrevises the plant layout as required Participates in the SafetyCommittee and ensures that the operation is consistent with Company andOSHA policies, practices and procedures Prepares various reports asrequired Performs other duties as required Qualifications Bachelor\'sdegree in engineering-related discipline or equivalent Minimum of 3years of profile extrusion experience is required; experience withwood-plastic composites is preferred Working knowledge of MicrosoftOffice including Excel, Word, and Outlook Working knowledge ofmanufacturing operations The Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Universal Forest Products and its subsidiaries and affiliates are equalopportunity employers.
