Adult Inpatient Psychiatric serves acute and chronically mentally ill patientsby providing high quality psychiatric clinical and therapeutic care. The unitspecializes in administering care to adult patients who display challengingbehaviors and/or who may have comorbid medical diagnoses that cannot beaccommodated by other mental health facilities in Colorado. The adult unitcomprises 57 beds over a span of 3 units. The multiple units allow for thedevelopment of a diverse set of nursing and therapeutic skills includingde-escalation techniques, therapeutic awareness and communication. Staffingratios include a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 and behavioral health techration of 1:7. These ratios create safe, dignified, individualizedpatient care. Job Summary
Under general professional supervision, preforms behavioral health socialwork services including planning, organizing, treatment and inpatientpsychiatry discharge/disposition. Delivers social services in accordancewith the approved plan of treatment and plan of care. Assists the physicianand other behavioral healthcare members in understanding significant socialand emotional factors related to the patient's behavioral health problems.
Essential Functions:
Applies method of providing services which involves identifying client'sbehavioral health needs, planning for implementation or coordinating careplans through resources acquisition, monitoring, advocacy and evaluation.(10%)Coordinates follow-up treatment referrals to various levels of care includingoutpatient therapy and psychiatry, intensive outpatient programing, longterm care and other services as indicated. (10%)Evaluates emotional components, impact of health issues and assists clientto identify disruptive factors to establish treatment goals. Adheres to andcomplies with rules and regulations of the City, Agency, Department andService. Practices in accordance with ethical principles established in NASWcode of ethics and by Denver Health. (10%)Assists clients to maximize adjustment to behavioral healthdiagnosis/illness/disability/trauma by addressing biopsychosocial issuesand enhancing problem solving and coping skills. (10%)Documented activity reflects patient involvement in goal setting with writteninformation consent documented. Completes documentation of social workactivities and interventions per established standards and guidelines.Prepares and submits data and information to behavioral health supervisor in atimely manner. (10%)Develops knowledge base of risk factors for psychosocial functioning,wellness and health promotion and provides basic education to patient. (10%)Utilizes methods, techniques and approaches to the delivery of care that areconsistent with the patient population and in conformance with the specificcare plan developed for each patient. (10%)Consults, negotiates, and coordinates with internal and external resourcesto assure collaborative efforts and to maximize patient outcomes. (10%)Applies basic knowledge of individual, group and family dynamics andtreatment methods to assist client in achieving treatment goals. (5%)Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of services to consumers and modifiesinterventions plan as indicated. (5%)Conducts psychosocial assessments that are individualized, objective andcomplete. (5%)Utilizes clinical skills to provide ap ropriate treatment recommendations andservices to clients and families. (5%)Education:
