About Principal Software Developer ( C/C++, system programming)

  Job Description

  Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

  As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

  Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 10 years of software engineering or related experience.

  Responsibilities

  As a member of the Sustaining Engineering Exadata team, specializing in the future technology of engineered system, you will articulate, manage, integrate and test critical security and database fixes for Exadata engineered systems. You will work at the forefront of defining the future direction of releases, by being responsible for articulating all necessary security and other critical fixes from across the Exadata stack which includes Linux, Storage, Networking and Database components, and finally, integrating, testing and filtering out the critical and important content by working in close collaboration with various technical teams across the organization and Linux community.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment.

  Strong understanding and experience of the Linux Kernel and its various sub-components and packages.

  Good programming skills and knowledge of either C, C++ or Java, along with good scripting skills

  Experience in I/O subsystem

  Knowledge of SQL, database internals, networking and storage architecture is a big plus

  Can-do attitude with high interest in learning new technologies and how to function in a multi-dimensional team environment

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  Minimum of 10 yrs of related experience
