  Mott MacDonald is looking for professionals to join our ever-expanding Project, Program, and Construction/Commercial Management (PPCM) practice. We are looking for a Principal Program Manager who will be accountable for managing large programs for Energy authorities/agencies in the Northeast region. Specific functions include:

  Leading a multi-disciplined team and providing direction and oversight to accomplish project goalsManage and oversee the work of the entire program management team, consisting of Project Delivery Management, Project Controls, Administrative, Operations, Project Finance, and Support staffExecuting Power/Energy sector programs in accordance with the governance codes and requirements/standards of our clientsDevelop the scope, and support the implementation of, a capital projects program, to include advising the Energy authority/agency client on program delivery strategiesDirect the Project Management / Project Controls (PM/PC) team to resolve issues and make recommendations to decision makers on issues resolutionManage, coordinate, and administer all project activity related to design, environmental approvals, construction, schedule, budget, quality assurance, initial operation, and closeout of capital projectsCoordinating all program interfaces with client and third-party stakeholders, including presentations to client senior management teams, the public, and other external third partiesMonitoring and reporting on the status of all program activities, including cost, schedule, earned value, document/data management, risk management/mitigation, quality management, change management, safety and other items as applicableIdentify and track program level issues; evaluate and recommend resolution alternatives; and manage project delivery to meet scope, quality, cost, and schedule goalsResolving any issues as they might arise through effective communications with clients, internal teams and other third partiesRepresent the capital projects group at Advisory, Committee and Commission meetings. Coordinate with staff to develop agenda and prepare/review staff reports. Present at these meetings, as requiredAssist the client agency in procuring consultants and contractors for professional services and construction contracts, as necessaryManaging Mott MacDonald's subcontractors, including monitoring compliance with Mott MacDonald's ISO-9001 accredited processesFacilitating risk workshops to identify and capture risk with mitigation strategies and actionsRegularly reviewing and updating risk registers to support project team members in driving mitigation actionsUndertaking capacity planning and resource loading for assigned projectsContributing to the development of any procedures or guidance as required to support the effective delivery of project deliverables as required

  Candidate SpecificationRequired Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, public administration, or business administration20+ years of experience exhibiting advancement through increasing levels of seniority and a growth of professional responsibilities in large-scale capital project and program managementMinimum of 10 years of experience working in client roles, engineering consultancies and/or contractors in the Power/Energy sector10+ years of experience leading major Power/Energy projects or programs, with a particular focus on program management for design build deliveryExperience in various delivery models, including EPCM, design-build, design-bid-build, time-and-materials and early contractor involvementMembership in AACE International, PMI, or another professional organization indicating a commitment to the project and program management fieldEffective communicator with demonstrable experience presenting and communicating to third parties including clients, regulators, industry and the general public on major capital programsAdditional preferred qualifications and experience:At least 5 years of the required experience will be at the working staff level in the project controls field (cost engineering; estimating; or scheduling); or in a position involving the management of sources of funding (private, local, state, federal)Certification as a Program Management Professional (PgMP) with PMI; a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) with AACE International; or as a Project Management Professional (PMP) with PMI, or other equivalent certification relevant to the management / delivery of capital projects.Benefits: 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, STD/LTD disability, holiday, vacation and sick time, parental leave and company paid life insurance
