  Job Description

Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with industry leading compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.

  As part of this effort, the Object Storage Service team is looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, large scale storage, and highly available services. If this is you, you can be part of the team that drives the best in class Object Storage Service into the next phase of its development. An engineer at any level can have significant technical and business impact.

  Responsibilities

  As a technical leader you will own the software design and development for major components and features of the Object Storage Service. You should be both a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems, as well as design broad distributed system interactions. Ideally, you have a background in system performance, where you have built highly efficient software stacks in Java, C or C++. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

  Qualifications:

  • 7-12+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.

  • Proven experience with a major Object-Oriented Programming language such as Java or C++.

  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.

  • Very strong knowledge of databases, storage, and distributed persistence technologies.

  • Good knowledge Linux kernel and Ethernet/IP/TCP/HTTP protocols.

  • Strong understanding of system performance and hardware acceleration

  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

  • Experience building multi-tenant infrastructure a strong plus.

  Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the United States only

  Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

  Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

  Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  11 paid holidays

  Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
