Roles and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Principal Life Safety and Electrical Technician within our Instrumentation and Equipment Technology team located in Allentown, PA.
The primary responsibility of the Principal Life Safety and Electrical Technician is to provide Life Safety Systems (LSS) support for the process laboratories. The main role of Principal Life Safety and Electrical Technician is to manage and perform scheduled life safety calibrations on both fixed and portable gas monitors within the technology process areas, installation of new systems, and troubleshooting/repairs of existing systems and sensors. This role includes daily interaction with the Air Products Technology R&D Community, and requires a highly motivated, self-starter with exceptional communication and strong interpersonal skills.
Required Skills / Abilities:
A minimum of 5 years of electrical/electronic experience.
Experience working with LSS sensors and associated hardware/equipment, or equivalent is preferred.
The incumbent must possess safe work habits that comply with all safety, health and environmental rules and regulations.
Hands on experience working with gases and electrical equipment is preferred. Key responsibilities for this position include:
Providing technical support to customers in the field, including call-in support when required.
Strong Electrical/Electronic design, installation, and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of applicable electrical codes for new installations.
Electrical fabrication knowledge and ability to read schematics & wiring diagrams.
Electrical controls knowledge and ability to fabricate control panels for new LSS installations.
Servicing and repairing equipment requiring electrical and mechanical skills.
Specifying components for and executing new life safety system installations.
Working in a fast-paced environment to provide on-site LSS calibrations on a scheduled basis.
Performing data entry and database maintenance required to track scheduled calibrations and testing.
Managing the annual LSS budget for the LSS.
Experience in the following areas is desirable:
Computer applications including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Producing and interpreting drawings and equipment manuals.
Electrical design including the ability to custom build and retrofit equipment.
Safe and proficient use of hand and power tools.
Applying electricity and electronics theory (low and high voltage and current) to fabrication, repairs and rebuilds of equipment.
