TITLE: Principal Engineer IILOCATION: Englewood, CO
JOB SUMMARY: Actively and consistently support efforts to simplify andenhance the customer experience. Support complex and critical projects thatinvolve several technical systems and constituents. Work with a team ofadvanced engineers who support the development, integration, testing,and troubleshooting of various technologies that support Charter'smobile/web video delivery, cloud infrastructure, and encryption/DRMsolutions for production deployment and engineering labs. Participate increating architecture, specifications, and test plans for productionproduct deployment. Work cross-functionality with Product, Engineering,Project Management, and Operations teams. Provide subject matter expertisein the following areas: public/private CDNs (content deliverynetworks), IP networking, Cloud DVR (digital video recording),encoding technologies, packaging DRM (digital rights management),original solutions, VOD (video on demand), and Cloud infrastructuretechnologies. Provide analysis, specifications, and test plans in supportof various advanced engineering and development projects, including but notlimited to availability, elasticity, scale, performance, security,and control for private/public/hybrid cloud system architectures. Directthe evaluation and testing of new hardware platforms and technologies toprovide implementation and design documentation. Perform network designutilizing TCP, UDP, Anycast, Multicast, and BGP. Design virtualmachines and containers, including Private and Public cloudinfrastructure, OpenStack, VMWare, Kubernetes, and Rancher. Storeusing object storage, block storage, file storage, CEPH, S3, andNFS. Utilize cloud-based DVR systems, including shared copy and pure privatecopy technologies. Encode using AVC and HEVC. Utilize CDN Architecture,including HLS, DASH, caching, Nginx, Varnish, and Apache. Automatewith Ansible
The Principal Engineer II provides technical leadership within a team but doesnot supervise the members of the team.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, inEngineering or a related field. 4 years of experience performing networkdesign utilizing TCP, UDP, Anycast, Multicast, and BGP; and inencoding using AVC and HEVC. 3 years of experience designing virtual machinesand containers, including Private and Public cloud infrastructure,OpenStack, VMWare, Kubernetes, and Rancher; in storing using objectstorage, block storage, file storage, CEPH, S3, and NFS; inutilizing cloud-based DVR systems, including shared copy and pure privatecopy technologies; in utilizing CDN Architecture, including HLS, DASH,caching, Nginx, Varnish, and Apache. 2 years of experience automatingwith Ansi
A hybrid office and remote work arrangement is available.
Salary depends on geography, experience, and education; negotiationsbegin at $124,000/year.
