The Corporate Employee Relations (ER) team supports Amazon’s Corporate Business Lines. The central objective of the Corporate ER team is to ensure that Amazon’s treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with Amazon’s core business values and objectives. In partnership with HR and business leaders, the Corporate ER team cultivates an environment that supports a loyal and engaged workforce and drives Amazon’s vision of being Earth’s Best Employer.
This Principal, Corporate ER role will be dedicated to the Devices & Services organization across Europe, with a focus on Netherlands, Poland, Romania, United Kingdom, and Germany. This will require global coordination of employee relations, labor relations, and industrial relations with the central ER team, in close partnership with Devices & Services PXT and business leaderships. This role will work proactively to identify and mitigate risk using pre-warning listening mechanisms and predictive analytics; create, audit, and sustain positive employee relations programs; design and deliver training for PXT and managers that drives ER best practices; consult on complex and high-risk investigations; and design and deliver a short, medium, and long-term labor strategy. A critical component of the role will also include working reactively on sensitive employee relations issues that are crisis-oriented and typically can only be successfully addressed with limited time.
Candidates must have employment and labor relations experience and expertise in region as well as partnering across global and matrixed organization; excellent judgment; highly-developed analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; a record of driving positive employee experiences; the ability to earn trust with all levels of employees and leaders; comfort with ambiguity; passion for building new initiatives; experience using HR metrics to find root causes and inform action plans; and a collaborative style of leadership.
Key job responsibilities
Detect and Mitigate Risk: Apply European employee and labor relations expertise and strong data and analytics skills to identify employee experience trends, gaps, and challenges; conduct and oversee vulnerability assessment programs; execute solution-focused strategies and programs to mitigate risks.
Crisis Management: Work reactively on crisis-oriented labor and employment issues under time limitations while exercising excellent judgment.
Communicate Effectively: Produce high-quality executive-level communications and documents that concisely analyzes problems and recommends solutions; design and deliver effective employee/labor relations trainings.
Collaborative: Build constructive relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and partners.
Earn Trust: Safeguard the goodwill of our employees by ensuring that Amazon’s treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with Amazon’s core business values and objectives.
Work at Scale: Launch and manage sustainable mechanisms across multiple countries at scale.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
10+ years of relevant experience in employee relations, labor relations, and/or labor and employment law across corporate and production/operations employees
Successful record of creating, improving, and executing programs at scale
Deep knowledge of European labor laws, regulations, and trends
Experience working with works councils and trade unions
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree, JD, or other specialized training in labor/employee relations
Experience working across Europe in large multinational corporations
Experience building and launching programs that measurably impact positive employee engagement
Comfortable using and analyzing metrics to identify vulnerabilities and drive solutions
Comfortable with fast-paced environment and managing through ambiguity and change
Excellent customer orientation with the ability to connect with a diverse and global employee population with varied levels of seniority and experience
Outstanding analytical, interpersonal, and influencing skills
High-quality judgment, sense of accountability, and attention to detail
Ability to write in a simple, clear, and well-organized manner
