The Power Thermal Management Systems Discipline, which is part of Engine Design & System Integration Controls & Diagnostics Systems & Accessories (EDSI CDSA), is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to be a part of our world-class systems engineering team. Team members work on multidisciplinary Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to architect, model, develop and integrate state-of-the-art power thermal management systems with propulsion systems and aircraft.

  Job Summary:

  The Control and Diagnostic Systems (CDS) organization is seeking a qualified candidate to perform control system reliability and safety engineering as on-site for military projects.

  This job requires employee to work on-site at the PW facility.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Participate in Control & Diagnostic System integrated product teams in development of embedded, real-time control and monitoring systems for military gas turbine engine applications.

  Integration with control system, engine system and aircraft design engineers.

  Work with airframe customers to develop and conduct Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA)

  Experience in conducting Safety and reliability analysis and reporting, including System Sub-system Functional Hazard Assessment (SSHA), Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Common Mode Analysis (CMA), Single Event Effect (SEE, SEU, EMI) Analysis etc.

  Work with airframe customers to develop and conduct Preliminary (PSSA) and final System Safety Assessments (SSA).

  Work with PW organizations, Module Centers, and third-party suppliers as necessary to complete individual FHA and SSA activities.

  Development of reliability & safety mitigation requirements (e.g. redundancy, fault detections, fault accommodations, fault annunciations, maintenance procedures) to ensure control system is robust and fault tolerant.

  Basic Qualifications:

  A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with control system engineering and software development background

  8+ years of engineering experience, or 5+ years of experience with an Advanced Degree

  The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Experience with requirement management tool (DOORS database), system safety analysis tools (Isograph Reliability Workbench for fault tree analysis), Model Based System Engineering for control system architecture & software development, matlab, simulink and MS Office

  Experience with one or more of the following airworthiness certification guidance/standard for system safety: ARP4754, ARP4764, MIL-STD-882E, MIL-HDBK-516

  Experience with software development process using DO178 and complex hardware development using D0254 standards

  Experience performing safety analysis for engine control systems and/or aircraft control systems

  Effective Communication Skills (verbal/written); able to work effectively on teams

  Experience with engine control subsystems or similar applications

  Experience in reviewing requirement verification criteria and test plans

  Experience integrating subsystems with higher level systems

  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

  Desire for continuous learning and innovation

  US Security Clearance is preferred; willing to obtain and maintain.

  Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

  Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process.

  For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

  This Requisition is eligible for an employee referral award. All eligibility requirements must be met to receive the referral award.

  The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
