JOB DUTIES:
Obtain and record patient medical histories, vitals, test results andother information for medical records
Coordinate the daily administrative activities, including scheduling,patient check-in and check-out, and patient medical record maintenance.
Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness, for clinical exams andassist practitioners with procedures and other patient care.
Deliver compassionate support, attention and assistance to patients andfamilies
Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA andOSHA
Prepare and administer medications for patients as directed byphysicians.
Complete lab controls and proficiency testing, if needed
Greet patients and prepare them for the type of treatment needed
Instruct patients on treatment preparation and aftercare
Obtain specimens, perform lab duties, draw blood and chart results, asneeded
Perform required testing and treatment such as EKGs, PFT, etc
Communicates with pharmacies, nursing homes, other physicians or otherentities required providing practitioners orders, verbatim
Report lab, X-Ray, imaging and other diagnostics along with plan of careto patients as directed by practitioner
Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA Privacy andSecurity
The Medical Assistant (MA) assumes other responsibilities as assigned bythe Nursing Director or Practitioner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to makedecisions
Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellentinterpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and thepublic
Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, codingprocedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology formedical assistant scope
Knowledgeable in policies, regulations and procedures to administerpatient care
Knowledgeable of medical equipment and instruments to administer patientcare.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safework environment
Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel,PowerPoint and Outlook; familiar with electronic medical health carerecord systems
Ability to maintain quality control standards
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit; reach with arms, hands andfingers to handle and feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch orcrawl; taste and smell as demonstrated by the Occupational PerformanceCapacity (OPC) test and/or pre-employment physical administered by CRMCat offer
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, required
Current Medical Assistant licensure with the State of Kansas, required
BLS, required
1-2 years experience in a healthcare setting, preferred
