OverviewDepartment of Engineering, College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Power Electronics Laboratory. Power Electronics Research Engineer III.
ResponsibilitiesSuccessful candidate for this position will be providing electronics engineering support for projects in the areas of high power electric vehicle infrastructure including: wireless charging systems integration for light, medium, and heavy duty electric vehicles, battery management systems, grid-tied power converters and controls, grid integration of renewable energy and energy storage, and micro-grid management; leading engineering efforts with teams of technicians, graduate and undergraduate students; advising and training lab personnel; developing testing procedures to promote safe lab operations; providing professional level documentation on projects; and providing customer support to sponsors on projects and hardware deliverables.
QualificationsCandidates must have: Masters degree in Electrical Engineering; 4 years of relevant work experience which may include experience gained during educational studies; experience managing projects with many tasks, milestones and deliverables; strong oral and written English communications skills and an ability to work within a team environment and oversee engineering design and testing; and ability to prioritize and manage multiple job tasks under strict deadlines. Required skills and publication/presentation requirements may be earned during advanced educational studies.
Preferred Qualifications include knowledge and experience in the field of power electronics and grid-tied power converters; experience with circuit simulation and PCB design tools (e.g. LTSpice, Altium, Matlab, PLECS); experience with FPGA and microcontroller coding and embedded system design; fuel-cell, or electric vehicles, vehicle system retrofits, and vehicle CAN bus messaging; experience working with electric power systems (e.g. building and equipment electrical system design, power system analysis and simulation); and experience with high-power designs and testing.
