　　Compensation:

　　Salary Range: The current minimum salary for Power Electronic Maintainer is $ 36.1 1 per hour for a 40-hour work week increasing to $42.49 per hour in the sixth year of service. These rates are subject to change. The benefits of this position include, but are not limited to, night and weekend salary differentials, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, a comprehensive medical plan and a pension plan.

　　Responsibility: Power Electronic Maintainers, under supervision, maintain, inspect, test, and repair the electronic automated monitoring and control equipment of New York City Transit’s power system. They troubleshoot, repair, maintain, test and operate solid state computerized supervisory control systems, relays, meters, test instruments, analog and digital circuit boards, modems and related low and high-voltage equipment; diagnose operating defects in power conversion equipment; record data; keep records and prepare reports; and perform related work.

　　Some of the physical activities performed by Power Electronic Maintainers and environmental conditions they experience are: working with small components and hand-held instruments; climbing and descending ladders; walking along catwalks in subways; distinguishing colors; and working in confined spaces.

　　Special Working Conditions: Power Electronic Maintainers may be required to work various shifts including nights, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

　　Education and Experience Requirements: You must meet one of the following requirements below:

　　A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, plus four years of full-time satisfactory experience as an electronic technician; or

　　Two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above, plus graduation from an approved trade, technical or vocational high school with a major course of study in electronics, electricity, telecommunication or electromechanics; or

　　Two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above, plus an associate degree from an accredited college or an equivalent accredited technical institution with a major course of study in electricity, telecommunications or electromechanics; or

　　One and one-half years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above, plus an associate degree from an accredited college or an equivalent accredited technical institution with a major course of study in electronics; or

　　One year of full-time satisfactory experience as described in “1” above, plus a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or an equivalent accredited technical institution with a major course of study in electronics, electricity, telecommunication or electromechanics.

　　If you have qualifying part-time experience, it will be credited on a prorated basis.

　　The high school, vocational high school, technical school, or trade school must be approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization. The college or university must be accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education, and by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

　　Drug Screening Requirement: You must pass a drug screening in order to be appointed.

　　Residency: New York City residency is not required for this position.

　　English Requirement: You must be able to understand and be understood in English to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
