The Department of Sociomedical Sciences at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health invites applications from PhD or other doctoral-level degree holders for a postdoctoral position in tobacco control research.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the postdoctoral research scientist will play an integral role on a NIH-funded project examining the tobacco retail environment in US cities and its impact on tobacco use disparities. Candidates should hold a doctoral-level degree in public health, social and behavioral health sciences, epidemiology, or a related field. Ideal candidates will have strong quantitative research skills, particularly in spatial and/or survey data analyses, and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Experience conducting research in the area of tobacco control and/or other substance use policy, and a strong commitment to addressing health inequities are also preferred qualifications. Although the postdoctoral research scientist will dedicate most of their effort to the grant's research activities, they will be encouraged to pursue independent research interests within the field of substance use. The duration of this position is 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.
Subject to business needs, we may support hybrid work arrangements. Options will be discussed during the interview process.
Individuals from groups historically underrepresented in health-related research are strongly encouraged to apply.
