Job Description
The Post-Doctoral Research Engineer will diagnose and hypothesize aging mechanisms in polymer electrolyte membrane electrolysis cells and fuel cells based on available experimental data. In this position, you will design and perform operando, electrochemical, and postmortem experiments for diagnosing aging and optimizing lifetime. To support the interpretation, you may perform a variety of postmortem analyses (scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman microscopy, etc.). You will also identify, and design new experiments required to elucidate and validate aging models.
Primary responsibilities:
Research in the degradation mechanisms present in electrolysis cells and fuel cells and appropriate mitigation strategies
Degradation and performance testing of cells and materials
Electrochemical and physical characterization of cells and materials
Development of diagnostic tests indicative of aging modes
Collaboration with other experimentalists and modelers in the team as well as academic and national laboratory partners
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or similar
Experience / proven research track record in electrochemistry, preferably electrolysis or fuel cells.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with physical and chemical characterization methods is a plus.
Autonomy, attention to detail, flexibility, creativity, excellent communication, and teamwork skills.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000 - $140,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc. Your Recruiter can share more details about the specific salary range for this position during the interview process.
