JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: One or more full timepostdoctoral positions are available immediately for highly motivatedpostdoctoral scholars interested in vascular or neural mechanisms inblood pressure control related to hypertension in the laboratory of Dr.Curt D. Sigmund in the Department of Physiology at the Medical Collegeof Wisconsin. A qualified candidate for this position is expected tohave a strong publication record and excellent references from PhD orpostdoctoral research. A notable feature of this postdoctoral fellowshipwill be experience in combining state-of-the-art genetic and molecularmethods (including CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing) with sophisticatedphysiologic techniques to address fundamental mechanisms of vascular andneural function in genetically modified mouse models in hypertension.Proficiency in physiology or pharmacology and experience with geneticsand molecular biology is highly desired. Potential project includes: 1)examining genomic interactions regulating PPAR target gene expression invascular smooth muscle and endothelium, 2) physiological, and proteomicanalysis of Cullin-3 adaptors and substrates in vascular smooth muscleand endothelium, and 3) relative role of angiotensin II receptor Gprotein and -arrestin signaling related to fluid homeostasis, metabolicfunction and blood pressure. The successful applicants can be expectedto use sophisticated tools in physiological genomics utilizing cell andprimary culture, and organ and whole mouse physiology. They will work ina multidisciplinary team with a diversity of interests, ideas, andexperiences.
