A locally owned and operated mechanical contracting company is looking for a plumbing apprentice to join their Special Projects team! A Plumbing Apprentice performs general labor and plumbing assistance under the direction of a Journey Plumber to perform the day-to-day activities of the project while achieving lowest cost, adequate schedule, high quality and safety goals set by the Foreman or Plumbing Lead.
Job Description:
Assist journeyman plumber in installing and maintaining plumbing systems.
Yearly progression in reading blueprints and drawings to determine exact specifications and where plumbing system will be installed.
Assist in determining water supply networks and waste drainage systems.
Coordinate with journeyman plumber, foreman or lead on installation.
Assist with installing systems used to transport water, waste, gases, or liquids.
Cut openings in structures in preparation for pipes.
Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment.
Assemble and install valves and fittings.
Assist in assembling pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle.
Observe pressure gauges to fix leaks.
Assist in testing pipe systems and fix leaks.
Assist journeyman plumber in ensuring all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded.
Qualifications:
At least 2 years of commercial experience or relevant certificate from a technical school.
Candidates must provide their own hand tools.
Work Environment/Shift:
This position may be working indoors or outdoors depending on the project.
Shift: Day shift, exact hours vary by project, overtime available.
PPE Required: Steel toe boots, safety glasses
