What your work will involve
The role of the ACT MyTime Playgroup Coordinator is to foster a warm, supportive and inclusive atmosphere for families with children with a disability, developmental delay or chronic medical condition.
You will be responsible for planning and preparing for the fortnightly sessions which should be designed to meet the specific needs, interests, and expectations of the attending families and children. Some sessions may involve inviting guest speakers or facilitating discussions on relevant topics.
The role will include engaging new families, service providers and relevant community organisations; registering families for the program; self-reflection for each session; and collection of data as per the MyTime requirements. Participation in specific training related to the MyTime program and ongoing professional learning is also part of the role. This ensures that you stay updated on best practices and continue to develop your skills.
What you'll need to succeed
Diploma or Degree in Disability services, Social or Community work or Early Childhood Education
Significant experience in facilitation of family support and groups
Strong knowledge of the community and surrounding support services including Schooling, Recreation, Health and NDIS
Knowledge and understanding of issues facing parents of children with additional needs
Hold a current Working with Vulnerable People Check
Hold a current Working with Children check
Hold a current First Aid and CPR
Ability to follow WH&S and other policies
A Valid Driver's licence
