Overview
Kemin is seeking candidates for our Plant Manager role at our Des Moines, IA facility. This newly created role will oversee our multi-building operation. Serving both internal and external customers, providing leadership for manufacturing operations across multiple production units and business units will be the primary responsibilities for this role. The Plant Manager plays a significant role in the annual operations strategic plan's development and execution. This position is responsible for the performance of all employees and the execution of the manufacturing process while ensuring required manufacturing compliance.

Responsibilities
Ensures and promotes the development of all operations managers and supervisors through coaching, training, and leadership development.
Achieves schedule agreed to with supply chain management.
Responsible for some project management and small capital projects.
Responsible for process engineering optimizations on the site.
Support and follow all safety procedures and protocols for a safe and clean work environment; Educate and direct personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintain compliance with established policies and procedures
Lead efforts to ensure SOP’s are created, adjusted and implemented by employees at all levels.
Provide overall leadership of the manufacturing department.
Lead, influence and support a culture of openness and personal development to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
Manage production plant by coordinating work schedule and personnel assignment, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, and resolving problems.
Monitor product consistency and ensure quality in finished product through a variety of assessments (e.g. appearance, texture, pH, temperature, moisture, consistency, etc.)
Maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with all departments towards continuous plant improvements.
Monitor inventories to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing.
Ensure that employees in department receive proper job training.
Ensure regulatory and quality compliance standards are met.
Read process flow charts, write, update, and follow standard operating procedures.
Follows and maintains an environment of food and/or feed safety in compliance with rules and regulations, as applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 10+years of experience preferred; MBA preferred
5+ years of experience simultaneously managing diverse manufacturing processes within a food grade environment
Experience as an effective project team player, leader and motivator; and the ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with peers and all levels of management and subordinates.
Extensive experience with 5S and GMP
Experience with Process Safety Management
Solid understanding and adherence to the Servant Leadership philosophy.
Read and understand process flow charts.
Read, write, and handle basic and complex math problems.
Strong written and oral communication skills, and excellent team-building abilities
Basic computer knowledge including MS Office.
Knowledge of SPC
Must be detail oriented and good time management skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills and strong financial skills
Mechanical ability is a plus.
Demonstrated integrity and honesty in all aspects.
