About Plant EHS Manager

  Overview

  The Plant Environmental Health and Safety Manager provides environmental, health, and safety leadership and strategic direction by leading the Plant's EHS continuous improvement efforts.

  Responsibilities

  Essential duties and responsibilities:

  Effectively implement Company’s key injury prevention programs at all assigned facilities, such as Near Miss Program, Pre-Job Safety Planning, Employee Safety Observations, etc.

  Establish and sustain appropriate programs and policies for maintaining a “ Zero Harm” safety culture.

  Coordinate regular safety calls with leaders at assigned facilities to review injury prevention programs, share best practices, etc.

  Ensure assigned facilities achieve pro-active metric reporting targets, such as number of Near Misses, Number of Safety Observations, etc.

  Ensure assigned facilities meet the established injury tolerances (TRIR, etc.)

  Provide support and oversight to assigned locations to ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA regulatory requirements, such as LOTO, Powered Industrial Trucks and Electrical Safety.

  Ensure assigned facilities fully comply with OSHA regulatory requirements.

  Ensure assigned facilities complete all required one-time and recurring Safety Compliance and Injury Prevention Tasks, assisting with completion as necessary.

  Provide on-going/as-needed safety support to assigned facilities with respect to injury prevention programs and OSHA compliance initiatives.

  Lead special projects/follow-up initiatives, as needed, to drive injury prevention and compliance

  Provide Corporate Safety support, such as updating new Safety Standards and associated compliance and training documents, researching future regulatory requirements and their impact on Company operations, etc.

  Lead Fire Risk Reduction Efforts to ensure that the number of fires are minimized, to include coordinating detailed investigations of all fire events and driving corrective actions.

  Perform all required reporting to, interfacing with and responses to OSHA and similar regulatory agencies.

  Coordinate and perform all required internal reporting on key safety events, such as Lost Time Injuries and Major Fires

  Provide safety review/response for all capital authorization and major project work.

  Conduct periodic Safety Compliance Assistance and Audit Site Visits to assigned facilities, following a standardized review process.

  Participate in Corporate Safety Initiatives, such as Safety Council Meetings, Safety Audits, etc.

  Less than 10% travel is expected.

  Qualifications

  Requirements:

  BS degree, preferably in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental related discipline and 7+ years of related experience.

  Strong interpersonal skills.

  Experience in a facility subject to Process Safety Management (PSM) Standards, Title V Air Permit, Small Quantity Generator Status for Hazardous Waste, SPDES Wastewater Permit, etc.

  Certification preferred (PE, CIH, or CSP) but not necessary.

  Flexibility to work non-traditional business hours as needed. Our locations operate 24/7 and the ideal candidate will have the occasional need to be in the facility during non-traditional business hours.

  Ability to influence and lead both direct and indirect reports.

  Preferred Skills:

  Have a passion for injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction

  Be approachable and able to relate to all levels of plant personnel

  Be capable of facilitating and sponsoring employee led teams that solve problems and lead the campus to World Class Safety

  Be capable of aligning the local team and influencing others to achieve the desired EH&S performance objectives

  Located 28 miles south of Rochester, 70 miles west of Syracuse, and 85 miles east of Buffalo, Canandaigua is a city in Ontario County, New York. The population was 10,545 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Ontario County. It is 32 miles south of the shore at Lake Ontario. Pactiv Evergreen Canandaigua, was founded in 1966, as a former Mobile Chemical plant. The plant manages several environmental programs including air, water, waste and spill prevention.   For individuals hired to work in New York, Pactiv Evergreen is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The compensation range is specific to New York and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Pactiv Evergreen, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is$102,500 - $170,000.
