Job Summary
HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energetic Pipe Superintendent. The position is within our Utilities Construction division, where we are a leader in the water/wastewater treatment plant construction in addition to our leading position with large, municipal pipe projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and managing multiple crews in various construction projects. Travel is sometimes required for this position.The successful candidate should be capable, among other responsibilities, with the installation of all underground pipe and process pipe. The selected individual will ensure the crews operates within HRI's safety standards at all times. They will plan and assign work, track/account for labor hours and productivity, and supervise daily activities of crew members.
Main Responsibilities
Complete tasks as directed by supervisor in a timely mannerAbility to work and assist others to work in a safe manner within the guidelines of the company's policiesLocate, avoid, and protect existing underground utilitiesRead and interpret grade instruments (tape measures, grade rods, levels, and lasers)Apply basic knowledge of soil types, trenching, and shoring per OSHA regulationsAbility to work with trench boxes, deep excavations, and in confined spacesSupervise work activities of employees in their daily activitiesEnsure crews have tools, materials, and instruction to complete tasksPreplan schedule, manpower, and equipment needs on a daily, weekly and monthly basis with the Project Management TeamUnderstanding of water and sewer line installationWork with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe online and grade

Education
Previous experience and knowledge with utilities, pipe and/or related field preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredValid drivers' license with the ability to maintain a clean driving history
Skills
Knowledge of utilities planning and schedulingAbility to calculate quantities for materials and suppliesAbility to effectively supervise small to midsized groupsEffective communication and organizational skillsAbility to travelPreferred Certifications TrainingFirst Aid / CPROSHA 10 and/or 30 hour trainingEffective communication skills (both listening and verbal)Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
