Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Physician Specialist,Opt. D for Packard Mental Health Center in Springfield, Illinois toperform highly responsible and exacting professional work as a staffpsychiatrist on a secure forensic unit. Performs and writes psychiatricevaluation and progress notes. Provides support and expertise to staffin working with patients. Provides education in areas of patient health,interrelationship of bio-social issues to patient care, especiallyin-regards to the use of psycho tropic medications, side effectstoxicities, etc. Serves as an active and contributing member on assignedfacility committees, staff meetings, teaching conferences and clinicalcommittees. Provides psychiatric services and consultation to otherDivision of Mental Health hospitals via tele-psychiatry and periodicon-site review of cases. Provides clinical information and guidance toother clinicians.
Job Responsibilities
As a non-administrative Illinois licensed Physician, performs highlyresponsible and exacting professional work as a staff psychiatrist on asecure forensic unit.
Performs and writes psychiatric evaluation and progress notes.
Provides support and expertise to staff in working with patients.
Serves as an active and contributing member on assigned facilitycommittees, staff meetings, teaching conferences and clinicalcommittees.
Provides psychiatric services and consultation to other Division ofMental Health hospitals via tele-psychiatry.
Provides clinical information and guidance to other clinicians.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonablywithin the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a valid State of Illinois Physician and Surgeon License.
Requires American Board Certification in the job-related medicalspecialty of psychiatry.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of professional experience evaluating the quality ofspecialized medical care and treatment for patients with a mentalillness.
Two (2) years of professional experience coordinating medical serviceswith other professional disciplines and supportive personnel.
Two (2) years of professional experience conducting psychiatric exams ofpatients.
Two (2) years of professional experience identifying most appropriatepositive treatment regime and carrying out that treatment in accordancewith best practices.
Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively bothorally and in writing.
Two (2) years of professional experience preparing comprehensive andspecialized medical records and reports.
Conditions of Employment
Requires the possession of a valid Illinois Controlled SubstanceLicense.
Requires the possession of a valid United States Drug EnforcementAdministration Certificate of Registration.
Requires the ability to meet the requirements of and be appointed to themedical staff association of Packard Mental Health Center within 30 daysof employment.
Requires the ability to serve as officer of the day after businesshours, weekends, and holidays.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited fromrecreational use under Illinois Law.
