Physical Security Specialist (SIOP-2024-20045):
Bowhead seeks aPhysical Security Specialist to join our team in providing program management support in a broad range of physical security services to assist our US Navy clients. This position is located on-site at the Washington Navy Yard in Southeast D.C.
Responsibilities
The Physical Security Specialist willsupport the physical protection of sensitive or classified information, personnel, and facilities. The Physical Security Specialist will develop/evaluate/implement security policyconcerned with physical measures designed to safeguard personnel; to prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, material, and documents; and to safeguard them against espionage, sabotage, damage, and theft.
Essential functions will include but are not limited to:
Provide the criteria for the levels and types of armed security forces required for response and containment.
Provide physical protection of sensitive or classified information, personnel, facilities, installations, or other sensitive materials, resources, or processes against criminal, terrorist, or hostile intelligence activities, or insider threats.
Evaluate and sometimes install protection systems and devices to insure that sensitive information, equipment, and other material is not compromised, sabotaged, stolen, misused, or subjected to terrorist, malicious mischief, or other acts of willful interference.
Provide expert knowledge of physical security concepts, practices, and procedures and systems to independently review, analyze and resolve difficult and complex physical security problems..
Apply project management experience with integrated electronic and physical security systems to include, but not limited to: intrusion detection systems (IDS), physical access control systems (PACS), closed circuit video systems (CCV), vehicle barriers, fences and gates.
Required to apply business-minded and risk-managed solutions to DoD security issues and business challenges, and must be able to communicate observations and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required
At least five (5+) years of work experience. A minimum of 3 years’ experience with a safeguarding program is also required.
Experience managing or inspecting organization key and lock programs.
Knowledge of the DOD lock program's authority for locks, vaults, seals and containers used to protect national security information and arms, ammunition and explosives.
Knowledge of the guidelines and standards for the physical protection of classified information and systems.
Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
