Job Summary
Under general supervision of a pharmacist, a Pharmacy Technician I performstechnical tasks within the pharmacy department. Based on area of assignment,responsibilities may include medication preparation, compounding,dispensing, inventory control, unit dose prepackaging, and basiccomputer system operations. Demonstrates the ability to competently work ingeneral areas of pharmacy practice.
Essential Functions:
Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, peers, nurses, and providers toimprove patient outcomes and quality metrics in both general and specializedareas of pharmacy practice. Triages and escalates any questions or issuesoutside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist orsupervisor as needed. (30%)Fills and delivers/dispenses medications under the supervision of a licensedpharmacist. Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.(30%)Complies with established departmental and DHHA policies and procedures,code of conduct, quality improvement, infection control, and safetyinitiatives. Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmentaland legal requirements. (20%)Participates in the training of new employees in both general and specializedareas of pharmacy practice. (10%)Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care. Operatespharmacy equipment appropriately. (10%)Education:
High School Diploma or GED RequiredWork Experience:
1-3 years Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB RequiredLicenses:
PTCBCPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - BPS - Board of Pharmacy SpecialtiesRequiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work as a team memberAttention to detailKnowledge of basic pharmacy practices and proceduresMathematical computation skillsOrganization and communication skillsGood typing, keyboarding and proofreading skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office, preferred
