The role you’ll contribute:
Plans, directs, and monitors all financial, operational, professional, and clinical activities of the department. Implements Policies and Procedures that ensure the pharmacy department provides optimal pharmaceutical services that meet all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements. Ensures that all pharmacy staff is currently licensed /certified/ registered and have adequate Continuing Education credits. Develops competence assessment programs that ensure all pharmacy staff performs all duties and responsibilities with utmost efficiency and safety, as well as complies with all applicable policies, procedures and standards of AdventHealth. Provide hospital staff with timely information relative to new drugs, policies and standards of care that relate to medication use/safety. Keep current with State regulations regarding the practice of Pharmacy and implements changes as necessary to maintain compliance.

· Determine the objectives of the department, and plan, organize and direct general pharmacy policies and procedures.
· Establish satisfactory methods of drug distribution and control.
· Establish quality specifications for all drugs and chemicals used in the hospital in accordance with the recommendations of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
· Appropriately recognize organizational lines within the department; keep employees informed of matters affecting their work and interest; interpret and explain hospital and departmental policies and procedures, department objectives, operations, services, organization, budget and seek comments and suggestions form employees.
· Interview, select and supervise the activities of the department staff
· Determine job objectives, work methods and performance standards
· Monitor work schedules and workload statistics. Maintain an appropriate staffing level to ensure that the services and responsibilities of the department are provided in a timely and quality manner. Ensures that overtime does not exceed budget.
· Authorize and communicate salary changes, promotions, transfers, discipline and discharge and administer all other personnel actions.
· Establish reporting and approval procedures. Delegate authority to assistants in order for them to direct the work of others.
· Provide authorization for supervision, orientation, training, job objectives, performance standards and appraisal, personal development, safety, communication, discipline, grievances and other personnel actions.
· Develop programs that ensure all pharmacists are competent to perform their professional duties and responsibilities. Verifies that licenses/certifications are current and valid.
· Provide for maintenance of appropriate records in order to assure that the quality, quantity and timeliness of work done can be documented.
· Ensure that the pharmacy department is clean, neat and well-organized; ensures that all documents are filed in a manner that allows for prompt retrieval
· Review and appraise work of others within the department; review and evaluate departmental performance;
· Keep Administration informed of the department’s progress and problems and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities.
· Develop and implement a process which ensures that the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee efficiently and effectively promotes the efficacious, safe and cost-effective use of medications within the institution. Ensure that agendas are prepared in a timely manner and reviewed with the Chairperson of the Committee prior to the meeting whenever necessary.
· Pursue compliance with outside agencies relevant to requirements for maintenance of services.
· Assure that professional competence of staff is maintained through education and coordination with senior staff.
· Plan for both short and long-range goals of the department in concert with the whole organizational plan of the hospital.
· Prepare, upon request, reports and special studies. Participate in and contribute to management and professional committees at all level inside and outside of the hospital. Keep informed of trends and changes insides and outside of the hospital which relate to assigned functions.
· Direct all aspects of monthly financial data including analysis of end-of-month drug utilization data and purchasing information for appropriateness prior to submitting to corporate office. Ensure that patient billing is accurate.
· Maintain competency in care for patients of all age groups and developmental stages, and maintain competency as specifically indicated by orientation guidelines for a particular unit.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :
· Competency in Microsoft products, database management and working knowledge of pharmacy technology
· Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment and adapt easily to change
· Demonstrated excellent time management skills
· Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
· Proven personnel leadership skills including: Supervision, Personnel Practices, Interviewing skills, and employee development
· Familiarity with Budget Projections, Trend Analysis and Accounting Systems
· Demonstrated ability to communicate through written and spoken media
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
· Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor’s of Pharmacy.
· Doctor of Pharmacy.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
· ASHP accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :
· Licensed as a registered pharmacist in the state of Florida.
· Licensed as a consultant pharmacist in the state of Florida.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
· BCPS
