  This Opportunity

  We are currently looking to fill a Part Time Permanent Support Services Attendant/PSWposition in our Northeast region – Elliot Lake.

  Roles and responsibilities:

  Assists clients in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:

  Personal care

  Lifts and Transfers

  Rising/retiring

  Bowel and bladder procedures

  Meal preparation and feeding

  Range of motion exercises

  Other light housekeeping duties

  Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.

  The Support Services Attendant will be required to work multiple shifts (i.e. days, evenings, weekends, and holidays).

  Qualifications and experience:

  Grade 12 Diploma is a requirement and/or PSW certificate

  Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.

  Experience working with people with physical disabilities, experience/knowledge/understanding of Independent Living, or Client based care.

  Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties.

  Physical Demands Self Analysis required upon hire.

  Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, including de-escalation techniques.

  Professionalism in dealing with team members and other service providers.

  Experience with mental health and behaviour management skills an asset.

  Ability to speak, read, and write English.

  Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends

  Driver’s license, and reliable means of transportation is a requirement of the position to travel to and from client homes.
