Home Care Assistance Barrie is looking for an experienced, high-energy Personal Support Worker for an Elderly client in their home with Dementia 

　　Every day 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the next day. 

　　Responsibilities:

　　Establish open communication with clients and their families

　　Accompany clients on community outings 

　　Personal care including bathing, dressing, mobility, personal care, feeding and other services outlined in the care plan

　　Companionship 

　　Medication management 

　　The ideal candidate will be compassionate and dependable, with excellent communication skills.

　　You should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to help clients living with Dementia.

　　Dementia care assistance- including cognitive support 

　　Be a kind and supportive companion

　　Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks, etc.)

　　Assist clients with personal care and hygiene

　　Help clients with physical therapy exercises

　　Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)

　　Help clients take prescribed medication

　　Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own

　　Report any unusual incidents

　　Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

　　The ideal applicant will have:

　　Proven experience as a caregiver

　　Proven experience with dementia care

　　Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR)

　　Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints

　　Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards

　　Respectful and compassionate

　　Good time management skills

　　Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

　　Strong ethics

　　Physical endurance

　　High school diploma or equivalent - PWS Certificate

　　Providing proof of annual Influenza and COVID-19 immunization documentation.

　　A passion for the job and helping others

　　Current VSC

　　Current CPR

　　Must have reliable transportation and valid insurance

　　Ability to pass a reference check
