Description:
Actalent is currently seeking a Permitting Technician to join their team in Florida. They will support power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across Florida.
The Permitting department is an integral part of the engineering team. They are responsible for ensuring the design meets the permitting requirements of each municipality and governing agency impacted by the project. They will work with the designers on the front end, to determine what permits will be needed and make suggestions to ensure their plans will pass permitting. They use CAD, field data, and maps to develop detailed permitting packages. They will periodically be required to assist with collection of data in the field, including measuring distances with a measuring wheel and taking pictures of intersections.
Projects are in support of Duke, TECO, and LCEC. The projects consist of retrofitting transformers, replacing deteriorating cable, moving overhead lines to underground, reconductoring of existing distribution lines, and replacing aging poles.
Duties include:
• Review work orders
• Read and understand plots on work orders (will train)
• Create permitting packages for work orders, including photos of the plots, google earth, redlines photos to show distribution lines, cross sections using autocad or bluebeam, MOT plates.
• Submit permit packages to the QC Department for review
• Make corrections to permit packages, based on feedback from the QC Department.
• Document control, editing and developing permitting packages for submittal to the client.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Qualifications:
• Experience with Autocad, Bluebeam, or other CAD software, through either work experience or education/training AND/OR experience creating permitting package and with the permitting process.
• Associates or Bachelors degree is a plus, not required.
• Must have strong computer and document management skills.
• Must be detail oriented, organized and have the ability to multi-task.
• Ability to read utility plans and records is a plus
• Experience creating permitting package or with the permitting process is a plus.
• Ability to work in the field, when needed.
