People Data Protection Senior Specialist will execute strategic goals and objectives for the People Data protection group at Avanade, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This is key to the strategic enhancement of our Human Resources (HR) data management and protection responsibilities, within our HR Processes globally and our technological ecosystem.

The People Data Protection team is responsible for the success of large transformations and key projects which ensure the success of Human Resources and Avanade. Senior Specialists will be responsible for managing projects, risk mitigation, escalations and ensure smooth operations of HR’s People Data Governance. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, communication, and management skills, along with an ability to lead training sessions and workshops for staff members.

What you will do:

Serve as a point of contact within the HR organization for staff members, Records Retention Leads, and key Information Security leadership on issues related to data protection

Ensure that the Human Resources function of the company is inline with policies, that ensure compliance with codes of practice such as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)

Evaluate and support the implementations of strategic initiatives to ensure HR Data Protection, access and risk management and manage remediation projects as required

Provide expert advice and educate employees on important data compliance requirements

Draft new and amend existing internal HR data protection procedures and guidelines, in consultation with key stakeholders

Design and conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues

Support the maintenance of records of all data processing activities of the HR Business Function

Skills and experiences

Well versed in data protection laws and practices, including deep understanding of GDPR, and other Global Data Privacy Principles

Experience in a legal, audit, or risk management role

Experience in a Human Resources function

Strong project management skills with a variety of participants and stakeholders

Manage the work of others directly in your team and external

Proficiency with software for preparing reports and presentations

About you

Characteristics that demonstrate success for this role:

Several years of experience in data protection compliance or related field

Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage sensitive and confidential information

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with strong attention to detail

Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent work experience in computer science or related field

Privacy Certifications including CIPP/E, CIPM, or FIP preferred

Security Certifications like CISSP or CISM preferred
