Job Summary
International Student & Scholar Services ( ISSS ) is looking for a friendly, empathetic, and upbeat Peer Assistant to support the University of Utah international community. The primary responsibilities of the Peer Assistant are to be the face of the ISSS team, greeting and checking in international students as they enter the office for advising appointments and answering basic questions over email and telephone. The Peer Assistant will also provide general administrative and program support to our ISSS advising and program staff.
Our goal is to recruit a self-motivated student who has an interest in contributing to communication, marketing, and student outreach within the ISSS office. A successful applicant will be an independent worker who enjoys creative problem solving and a willingness to create and implement new outreach strategies.
Responsibilities
Front Desk duties: greet students and visitors to ISSS ; answer phones and emails and other duties as assignedReceive and greet students, staff, and faculty, responding promptly to visitor requests and directing their needs to the appropriate team member or resourceAnswer all inbound office calls and mail as well as manage ISSS email accounts. Address all callers/senders respectfully, identifying their needs, and directing their needs to the appropriate team member or resourceProvide support for visa-related immigration documents by maintaining databases, sending emails Assist with set-up and clean up during ISSS meetings, interviews, events, and luncheonsProcessing and data entry as neededPerform clerical and administrative duties as assigned by the ISSS TeamDevelop and execute a social media content calendar with the Orientation and Student Engagement Coordinator to plan to promote ISSS programs, events, and servicesUtilize the ISSS Instagram account at student events to create posts and stories about events and do live engagementMonitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and foster online communityCollaborate with the marketing team to align social media efforts with broader department branding and communication strategiesIntegrate new ideas, programs, and strategies to help grow student outreach and communications strategiesParticipate in the marketing material creation process, handling marketing tasks under the guidance of full-time staffTake professional photos and videos to help promote the ISSS office and its eventsOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications
